Creating the New Village Green

The Village of Irvington will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day with a daylong event:

 Irvington Earth Day 40: Growing Our Village Green.

This high-energy, all-day community event brings green and free activities for young and old to Main Street, the Old Croton Aqueduct and the Waterfront.



Date: April 17, 2010

Time: 11 am to 6 pm, with a closing ceremony planned for 5-6 pm.


Green Vendor Fair, Irvington Village Farmers Market, music with a message. Displays of alternative-fuel vehicles, “Sustainable Architecture Tour”, beginning at the award-winning Eileen Fisher Headquarters, Environmentally-themed film. Bike rentals, hands-on recycling demonstration, scavenger hunt, bird watching & guided tours (Old Croton Aqueduct). Sidewalk sales, local craft artists, creatively reused or recycled materials, nature activities for young children. Educational talks for adults by notable local speakers will continue throughout the day. Additional activities planned by Scout groups and Irvington School District students.
